The Newest Free To Air FTA Receivers

The Buzz S2010f FTA Receiver

Another relative unknown receiver on the Free To Air market is the new Buzz 2010F receiver. Heralded as one of the hottest units on the market we were impressed with its pricing and capabilities. Packed with tons of features found on higher priced units, the Buzz 2010F will prove to be a favorite with satellite dish die hards as well as the novice user. Designed by engineers with love for functions this unit comes packed with amazing features. On the outside the Buzz S2010F looks great. A polished finish and large buttons definately come in handy if you can't find your remote control.

The advanced blind scan feature with the Buzz is comparable to Viewsat and Coolsat units with its large transponder list and quick search functions. We found it to be very quick when looking for different satellites and returned results within a very respectable time. A new fast scan feature allows you to scan only the popular transponders and a detailed scan basically scans everything in the sky.

An advanced channel list makes for easy sorting and searching of channels and the large 5000+ memory is more than enough for most viewers. A one touch scan feature moves the motor and automatically looks for new transponders. A sensitive tuner ensures that no channels are missed and the intuitive menu system functions great and is really simple to use.

More quality features include 16 built in timers, 'Azan' feature notifies muslim viewers when it's time to pray, Picture in Picture, excellent zoom features that work with still or live pictures and easy to navigate menus and On Screen Displays. A new clock feature even lets you know how long it takes to scan each satellite.

Buzz S2010f Features at a Glance:

  • Fully DVD-S/MPEG 2 Compliant (4mb flash memory)
  • Smart Card Reader
  • CI Input Slot
  • Multi Langaue On Sceen Display (OSD)
  • Easy to use OSD with Easy Guide
  • PAL-NTSC auto-conversion system
  • Diseqc1.2 switch, voltage (14/18v), tone (22k) and 0/12v lnb switching support
  • Advanced Search, automatic search for transponders and channels
  • Timer function support
  • Multi-language support On Screen Display (English, German, Italian, Spanish, French and Portuguese)
  • Easy To Use EPG Electronic Program Guide
  • Teletext support
  • Scart Audio/Video Output
  • Picture In Picture PIP 4/6/16 display
  • 5000 Channel Memory
  • Picture In Graphics (PIG)
  • 224mhz NEC Internal CPU Processor
  • 32 mb Internal RAM
  • Fast Channel Change Time

This is definately a very nice receiver. But we don't think it has true Blind Scan capabilities like the Fortec Ultras, Pansat units. If you delete all the TPs from a Satellite and do a Blind Scan on that same satellite all of the deleted TPs will be replaced via the built in software. An overall solid receiver, the Buzz gets a tumbs up from us either as a primary or secondary receiver. Loaded with features, great picture and sound quality, fast channel scanning and easy to use menus make this a definate choice for mainstream fta users.
