The Newest Free To Air FTA Receivers

The Coship CDVB2300B Receiver

One of the many unknowns on the FTA home market are the Coship line of receivers. While not as popular as popluar as other bands like Coolsat and Fortec, the Coship is one of those units that definately make you wonder why they are not in more homes. Sporting a sleek and functional design the CDVB2300B is packed with features that some of the more popular brands lack. Coupled with a super nice remote control which enables you to totally customize your menus it's a wonder why more people haven't found this line of digital satellite dish receiver.

The new Coship comes with satellites already preprogrammed in it and supports the new DiSeQ 1.2 interface. With this advanced technology you can program up to 16 different satellites on 16 different LNB's for C Band and Ku reception.

Coship has definately delivered quality with this unit. It has an exceptional picture quality with great hues and amazing contrast. It also excels at bringing in weaker signals from some satellites in orbit.

Although it seems to be a little on the large size for a fta receiver its sleek front panel makes up for it.

Hot New Features and Specs at a Glance:

  • SCPC & MCPC receivable from C/Ku Band Satellites
  • 256 Colors On Screen Display (OSD)
  • PAL-NTSC Auto-conversion System
  • DiSEqC1.2, Voltage (14/18V), Tone (22K) and 0/12V LNB Switching Support
  • Multi-language OSD (English, German, Italian, Spanish, French, Turkish, Arabic, Persian, Greek, Portuguese, Russian)
  • Multi-language Audio and Subtitle Reception
  • Electronic Program Guide (EPG) and VBI Teletext Support
  • A/V Output through SCART, RF modulator or A/V Cable
  • RF Modulator for TV standard (PAL B/G/D/I/K, NTSC)
    (Optional) AC3 Digital Audio Output
  • Picture in Graphics (PIG) support
  • Automatic Search for Transponders and Channels
  • More than 4000 Channels Memory Space
  • Easy and fast software upgrade through RS-232 port
  • Receiver to Receiver Software Upgrade
  • Timer function Support

What we liked most about the new Coship fta box was the huge channel memory and the easy to manouever user guide. While it doesn't have all the bells and whistles as some of the more expensive Coolsats and Fortecs this unit delivers quality television for a reasonable price. A great choice for the beginner just diving in to the digital satellite home television market.

HoustonPBS 8.1 Letterbox sometimes/sometimes notAnyone have any contacts at KUHT in Houston? On the OTA HD channel (not one of the SD subchannels) they seem to broadcast some programs in 16:9 and some letterbox 4:3 (basically pillarbox + letterbox). Not really a problem because my 622 can zoom it, but it makes me wonder why? Laziness?
