The Dreambox 7020 FTA Receiver

Initially based in its baby brother the 500S, the new Dreambox 7020 digital satellite dish reciever is the next generation in home satellite dish viewing. Open sourced Linux based operating system powers the all new unit to performance not seen in the fta world yet. By adding a computer hard drive (HD) of any size this machine instantly converts into an awesome Personal Video Recorder (PVR) with advanced options not available on many lower priced receivers. Advanced channel scanning ensures maximum channel availability.

Out of the box this unit ships with a handy setup CD which makes installation painless and quick. This unit quickly demonstrated its advanced power with its 64mb of internal RAM, 250mhz CPU, internal smart card reader, internal flash card reader, CI module and 8mb of internal flash memory. The new smart card readers eliminate any PC to receiver hookups when updating the latest fixes and patches to the unit. Download your bin/fix/file/patch to your personal computer, copy the file to a flash card, insert the card into the unit and choose from the on screen display which fix to apply. No more cables and unplugging the receiver for updates.

The new Dreambox 7020 includes major upgrades and improvements including a wide array of interfaces. We believe this unit to have the most interfaces on the market today which should appeal to the hard core FTA satellite dish user. Included interfaces are USB, Infared IrDA for the remote control, serial connection, Digial I/O, Lan 100mbps Ethernet, Wireless Ethernet, RGB, FBAS, Component Video, AC3 audio, Analog Audio, CI-interface and the smart and flash card readers.

We found the remote to be extremely user firendly with good sized buttons that are spaced nicely having all the crucial functions close together. Picture quality of this unit is extremely high with clarity and crispness only seen on high end higher priced models. This unit is definately not for the inexperienced FTA user as it's Linux based system and abilities for customization and OS upgrading should only be done by someone with a high knowledge of the operating system. Definately the most advanced unit on the market today but not for the novice user.

Confused About How To Use SWM8...I just found out about an SWM8 and what it can do for me. I have a two story house with dish to be mounted on the eve. On the same side of the house on the ground level, there's a cable box with all 6 home runs of cable in it and it's on the outside of a garage wall. I have 3 HR20-700s and will...

Not Receiving Certain HD ChannelsHello, I'm getting a "Searching for satellite signal... (771)" on several HD channels, using the AU9 Slimline Dish. This has happened at various times through the summer and I've been on the roof twice now doing a realignment, but it seems like every time I do it, the dish moves enough that I...

HoustonPBS 8.1 Letterbox sometimes/sometimes notAnyone have any contacts at KUHT in Houston? On the OTA HD channel (not one of the SD subchannels) they seem to broadcast some programs in 16:9 and some letterbox 4:3 (basically pillarbox + letterbox). Not really a problem because my 622 can zoom it, but it makes me wonder why? Laziness?
