The Newest Free To Air FTA Receivers |
The Sonicview SV-PVR 1000 FTA Receiver
Once again another PVR enters the market and leaves us with another stellar report. The Sonicview SV-PVR 100 Digital Satellite Free To Air Receiver delivers unparalleled quality in a great free to air unit with a built in personal video recorder. The new Sonicview blew us away with its jam packed features and technical superiority. It definately came as a surprise why this unit is not getting more recognition in the FTA community as it is probably the best PVR unit to date.
|
The first thing we noticed about this unit was the high level of quality both inside and outside. A nice gunmetal finish accompanies each unit and gives it a nice look. The large remote control is also well made with well placed buttons. It's easy to get used to.
One thing that impressed us was the ease of channel scanning. After loading the unit with the latest firmware, we hooked it up and was pleasantly surprised how fast its scanning abilities were. A definate plus. The new EPG guide system proved to be just as advanced and the friendly remote control made adjustments a breeze. |

This unit in our opinion is just as great if not greater than its rival that Pansat PVR-7000. Stellar picture quality and the ability to upgrade the internal hard drive to allow even more recording impressed us greatly. The 7 day electronic program guide that actually works was even more stunning. This unit pulls in everything under the sun and displays it on screen in no time.
This unit is definately going to be one of the hottest fta receivers for 2007. Boasting top of the line specs it definately outshines its competition in this market. If you are looking for a higher end fta unit with outstanding PVR capabilities then this is the unit for you.

HoustonPBS 8.1 Letterbox sometimes/sometimes notAnyone have any contacts at KUHT in Houston? On the OTA HD channel (not one of the SD subchannels) they seem to broadcast some programs in 16:9 and some letterbox 4:3 (basically pillarbox + letterbox). Not really a problem because my 622 can zoom it, but it makes me wonder why? Laziness?
