The Viewsat PVR 7000 FTA Free To Air Receiver

The new Viewsat PVR7000 is one of the more technically advanced models that are around at the moment. The initial impression that you get from it is that, as well as being a thoroughly well made piece of machinery, it is also very asthetically pleasing. It has smooth sleek lines and will add rather than, like so many other models, detract from the look of your room.

But the PVR 7000 is not just good looking, it has substance to add to it's style. In fact it is quite literally twice as good as many of the other models as it is a dual tuner PVR. This is a very useful feature as it allows you to watch one channel and record from the other at the same time. Gone are the days when you need to put up with watching one program on great digital quality and then have to watch the one that you recorded on video.

The PVR 7000 also has a built in card reader. This is in itself a very useful feature and will save you a lot of trouble. It also integrates fully with MPEG 2 and also DVB's giving it a very good degree of versatility. It will also interface with hard drives that are up to 2000G's so you do not need to be short of space. It has a 160mhz processor and also 16mg's of SD RAM, so this is a very powerful machine that will give the capability to really use it's features to the full and get the most from your viewing.

Another feature that will help you to make full use of the dual recording function is the picture in picture, so that you are able to watch one channel and also see the one that you are recording to make sure that you start your recording, or switch programs at that right time. This is a great way to avoid watching half a home makeover show when you just were trying to record the football! It also has outputs for S video, RF modulators, and digital audio. There is a great zoom function that is very useful for getting the full detail from your favorite films. It also has quick channel changing which you need as it can get up to 8,000 channels!

The PVR 7000 is a great piece of equipment that will greatly enhance your viewing with it's dual play facility. It is well built and full of features that are not only impressive, but also practical as well.

DirecTV Customer Service, RV topicHi, new member here. Hope this is the right forum for my question. My wife and I are retired and living full time in our motor home. HoustonPBS 8.1 Letterbox sometimes/sometimes notAnyone have any contacts at KUHT in Houston? On the OTA HD channel (not one of the SD subchannels) they seem to broadcast some programs in 16:9 and some letterbox 4:3 (basically pillarbox + letterbox). Not really a problem because my 622 can zoom it, but it makes me wonder why? Laziness?
